Jaisalmer The Land of Warriors

Jaisalmer is a royal city, having rich heritage. Its royalty can be seen in its architecture, culture and food. The place is best known as "The Golden city", as it is etched in yellow sandstone. History of Jaisalmer

Strong history of the place makes it the best place to visit in India. The Rajput king, Maharawal Jaisal Singh founded this city in 1156 AD. The most of inhabitants in Jaisalmer are Bhati who believed to be great Warriors. The city has been under the possession of many rulers such as Rawal Lon-Karan, Maharawal Jaswant Singh, Rawal Ram-Chandra, Maharawal Gaj Singh, and later on added into Indian state in1971, as before this it was a princely state, and was being run under maharawals. The last Maharawal, Maharajadhiraj Maharawal Raghunath Singh ruled it till 1971.

Jaisalmer Fort

It is worth seeing fort, especially in moonlit night. The fort was built by Rawal Jaiswal, the Bhati Rajput ruler in 1156 Ad. The fort is one of the largest forts in the world situated strongly in the midst of Thar Desert in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. The whole fort is made of Yellow sand stone for that it is also referred to as ‘Golden fort’. It is the most visiting place in the state of Rajasthan. The fort is the beautiful illustration of Rajput architecture, and is among the best places to visit in India.

Thar Desert

It is an Indian Desert covers the area of many Indian states such as Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Gujraat. It is another worth seeing the place  falls 6 Km north of Jaisalmer, adjacent to Ramgarh. It is beautiful garden complex, comprises many monuments of Maharajas of Jaisalmer. A beautiful lake is also located adjacent to the garden.

Road

Jaisalmer is connected with Highway Number 15 that conncets it with major cities in the India. Many RSRTC and private lead to Jaisalmer from the capital Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner.

Rail

Jaisalmer Railway Station plays an important role to connect Rajasthan with other major state. It falls in western railway zone. It operates or Jaisalmer express train for Capital Delhi, Jaipur, and Jodhpur.

Air
