Gulmarg is among the top
places to visit in India falls in Baramula district of Indian State

operated by Jammu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporation.
Indian Institute of Skiing and
Mountaineering is also setup in Gulmarg that came into existence to promote tourism
in India. It is an initiative of Government of India to introduce adventure
sports in Gulmarg. The institute offers various types sports program
related to trekking, mountaineering and skiing. It is among the institutes offering professional skiing and make tourists aware of best skiing destinations in India.

Gulmarg Golf Club: Golf
is quite popular game in Gulmarg as it offer large 18 holes golf club for gold
lovers. The golf club was setup near 1911 during the British Empire in India.
It is spread over eye pleasing lush green piece of land. Gulmarg Golf Club is
managed by Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation.
Saint Mary’s Church: It
is one of the oldest churches in India built
during the Colonial period in the country. It is located in valley of shepherds
in Gulmarg encircled with beautiful old fashioned houses and restaurants.
Maharani Temple: It
is among the Hindu religious places in India dedicated to Hindu deity Lord
Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It got
construct in 1915 by Mohini Bai, the consort of King Hari Singh of Jammu and
Kashmir.
Baba Reshi Shrine is the well known Muslim pilgrim place in India founded
in 1480. It is the oldest mosque dedicated to the Muslim saint Baba Reshi. The
mosque is built in Mughal architecture.
Where to Eat in Gulmarg
Gulmarg has abundance of restaurants offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. All the traditional foods of the region are based on rice which served with both vegetarian and non vegetarian accompaniments such mutton, chicken, fish, Dal (pulses) and vegetable. Dum Aloo, Rogan Josh, Chaman (Fried Cheese accompanied by sauce) etc are few major food the place. How to Reach Gulmarg
By Air: Srinagar is nearest airport to Gulmarg located at the
distance of just 52 K.M. which has daily scheduled flights for Delhi
International Airport that further connects with many major cities of India and
the World.
By Road: Road is the best medium to reach Gulmarg, and state
government runs both luxury and normal buses from Srinagar to Gulmarg non stop.
One can also get local transport like cab, taxi etc from Srinagar

ReplyDeleteTruly a wonderful post on Gulmarg-"Meadow of Flowers", a hill station and a popular skiing destination. It is situated in the Pir Pinjal range of the western Himalayas. All the places to visit in Gulmarg are very popular among tourists. It also has the highest golf course.

Every time we plan to visit the beautiful state Jammu and Kashmir, the scenes of picturesque ice-clad, greenery, watery places, narrow roads flashes in our mind. But then the scenes of fire exchange come to mind. So suddenly the plan gets closed. Skiing is one of the must do things in my adventure activities list. Apart from Jammu and Kashmir, there are many other places in north east India to perform similar activities and get relaxed. I hope someday my dream of performing the adventurous activities will be fulfilled.
